What is a Gastric Sleeve?
The operation of Sleeve or Gastric Sleeve (also called Gastric Tube), is one of the most performed techniques and has the advantage of not requiring long-term supplementation with a proper diet.
The aim is to reduce the size of the stomach, removing the major curvature that allows it to dilate and have an increased capacity. In this way, the noble parts of the stomach remain intact and are fully functional.
By modifying the structure of the stomach is achieved:
- Decrease in gastric capacity: A dessert plate in the middle of a flat plate.
- Reduction of the Ghrelin: It favours the emotional control of the «excessive hunger» (when the patient is satiated he does not want to eat any more).
